This year, I had the great honor of serving on the MLK Celebration Committee of Southeastern NC. MLK Day was truly a week of programming which celebrated the life of Dr. King. We began with a Career Fair and Business Expo, then continued with a gospel concert, the Potluck for Peace, a banquet,
The most exciting part of the whole week was the parade. It was a tremendous honor to and to walk in the parade, which I remember walking in as an elementary school student.
Today's MLK Day Parade was the first parade in Wilmington to cross the Meadowlark Lemon bridge, and the first to take place on Major General Joseph McNeil Way, both of which were dedicated this past year to two incredible Wilmington natives that made huge impacts in the world.
In honor of this occasion, Major General Joseph McNeil served and his family served as the parade's grand marshall.
